Prince William Divorces Kate Middleton After 5 Weeks

June 7th, 2011 1 comment
‘I Made A Terrible Mistake’ Says Heir To British Throne

LONDON—Barely a month after marrying 29-year-old Kate Middleton in a royal wedding ceremony watched by an estimated 2 billion people worldwide, Prince William announced Tuesday that he and Middleton have divorced and that the entire marriage was “a tremendous mistake in every possible regard.” “I really don’t know what I was thinking—we’re a terrible match, I don’t love her and never have, and, to be honest, I never really had any interest in being married in the first place,” announced the now unattached Prince William to a dead-silent British press corps. “People thought our wedding was some sort of fairy tale, but I assure you it was all just some ghastly ceremonial farce that got out of hand. I’m just relieved it’s over, frankly. And I’m glad I’ll never have to see that awful woman again.” Prince William then told the assembled reporters, “Well, see you all later,” smiled, and walked back into Buckingham Palace.

Osama not protected by any Pakistani agency

Interior Minister Rehman Malik has admitted that hiding of Al-Qaeda Chief Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad was an intelligence failure.

In an interview with an Arabic newspaper, Rehman Malik said killing of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan has strengthened our resolve to fight the menace of terrorism with renewed vigor.

It was an intelligence failure. Sometimes it happens, but I assure our allies that he was not protected by any government agency, the Interior Minister stated.

He said that 9/11 also happened due to intelligence failure. Not only 9/11, I can cite other incidents in the world which were result of agencies failure. That does not mean that those agencies protected terrorists, he added.

Malik ruled out the possibility of anyone, either from the political leadership or from the military top brass, stepping down for the “intelligence failure.”

No heads will roll in the aftermath of Osama, he said, adding how many people resigned after 9/11 in the US?

Who created Bin Laden and sent him to fight Russians? he questioned. We never invited him to Pakistan. He went there with hundreds of other Arab fighters to wage a jihad against Russian forces, and the world knows who supported them, he added.

An extensive investigation has been ordered to know the circumstances that enabled Bin Laden to stay in the country undetected, he concluded.

Al Qaeda leader bin Laden dead

Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed on Sunday in a firefight with U.S. forces in Pakistan and his body was recovered, President Barack Obama announced on Sunday.

“Justice has been done,” Obama said in a dramatic, late-night White House speech announcing the death of the elusive mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the New York and Washington.

Obama said U.S. forces led the operation that killed bin Laden. No Americans were killed in the operation and they took care to avoid civilian casualties, he said. “The United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda and a terrorist who is responsible for the murder of thousands of men, women and children,” Obama said. It is a major accomplishment for Obama and his national security team, after many Americans had given up hope of ever finding bin Laden.

A crowd gathered outside the White House to celebrate, chanting, “USA, USA.” Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush, had repeatedly vowed to bring bin Laden to justice “dead or alive” for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington that killed nearly3,000 people, but never did before leaving office in early 2009.

U.S. officials said that after searching in vain for the al Qaeda leader since he disappeared in Afghanistan in late 2001, the Saudi-born extremist was killed in the Pakistani town of Abbotabad and his body recovered. Having the body may help convince any doubters that bin Laden is really dead.

He had been the subject of a search since he eluded U.S. soldiers and Afghan militia forces in a large-scale assault on the Tora Bora Mountains of Afghanistan in 2001. The trail quickly went cold after he disappeared and many intelligence officials believed he had been hiding in Pakistan.

While in hiding, bin Laden had taunted the West and advocated his militant Islamist views in videotapes spirited from his hideaway. Besides Sept. 11, Washington has also linked bin Laden to a string of attacks — including the 1998 bombings of American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania and the 2000 bombing of the warship USS Cole in Yemen.

7.4-magnitude aftershock shakes Japan

Once Again Japan under the shock!!!

A major earthquake shook the northeast of Japan late Thursday night (April 7), and a tsunami warning was issued for a part of the coast already devastated by last month’s massive quake and tsunami that crippled a nuclear power plant.

More than 30 people were injured, according to Japan’s National Police Agency.

The 7.4-magnitude quake struck at 11:32pm Japan time and halted operations at some thermal power plants in Aomori and Akita prefectures, news reports said.

No damage was detected at the troubled Fukushima Daiichi plant and workers had been evacuated without reports of any injuries, operator Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco) said.

“After the earthquake and the tsunami warning, all the workers evacuated to a safe area. The company confirmed all the workers have cleared the plant safely,” a spokesman said.

“We have no information immediately indicating any abnormality at Fukushima Daiichi plant,” a spokesman told a news conference.

Japan is struggling to bring the crippled Fukushima plant under control after the 9-magnitude quake on March 11 and the tsunami that followed, which killed an estimated 28,000 people.

Neighbouring countries have sounded increasingly alarmed over the risk of radiation from the plant, while tourists are staying away in what should be the peak season, and the country seeks ways to cut power use.

Announcers on Japan’s public broadcaster NHK told coastal residents to run to higher ground and away from the shore after the quake hit on Thursday.

The Japan meteorological agency had issued a tsunami warning for a wave of up to 2 metres, but was lifted later.

The strong aftershock hit 25km under the sea and off the coast of Miyagi prefecture. Buildings as far away as Tokyo shook for about a minute.

Pak-India match tickets being blacked

Pakistan VS India seems like a war between two countries…….!

Cricket fans at Mohali are complaining about the unavailability of tickets at the counters on Sunday.

The fans are angry and allege that the tickets are now being sold at a high price in the black market.

However, there have been numerous reports of a thriving black market in tickets with prices rocketing so that a 5,000-rupee ticket was being sold for a price as high as 100,000 rupees.

"For a match as big as this one, we cannot do anything about black market tickets," said PCA joint secretary GS Walia.

"As far as we are concerned, we only gave the tickets to those who stood in the queues and bought them. We cannot keep track if they sell these in (the) black (market)."
