Pakistan Won 2 Gold Medals In CWG 2010

In Commonwealth games 2010, Pakistani wrestlers Azhar Hussain and Muhammad Inam won gold medals in 55 and 84 KG weight categories respectively. Not only the national anthem of Pakistan was heard in Indian capital New Delhi but the green flag was also raised.

On the other hand Indian hockey team beat Pakistan by 7-4 to earn a place in semi final with England. Sonia Gandhi and her son were also present during this match and were sitting amongst the paying customer seats behind one of the goals.

Serious Concerns Over Fraud At Afghan Elections..!!

KABUL, Afghanistan — The main Afghan election observer group said Sunday it had serious concerns about the legitimacy of this weekend’s parliamentary vote because of reported fraud, even as President Hamid Karzai commended the balloting as a solid success.

The conflicting statements underscored the difficulty of determining the credibility of the vote also hit by militant attacks that hurt the turnout. Afghan officials started gathering and tallying results Sunday in a process that could take weeks if not months to complete.

Angelina Jolie Visits Flood Affected Nowshera In Pakistan

Angelina Jolie who has always been a goodwill ambassador to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees landed in Nowshera, northwestern Pakistan on tuesday for the huminatarian cause to help the flood victims.

She wanted to meet the mothers who lost their children in these floods which happened in Nowshera.

Jolie visited a refugee camp near Jalozai and identified the condition of distress in Pakistan to be intensely complex and hopes to do something for them in her short visit itself.

The flood which has led to 1700 deaths and affected 17 million people might be able to genrate more funds for the flood affected victims due to Jolie’s two day visit to Pakistan.

She was seen wearing a black headscarf along with a black robe to respect the country’s traditional islamic culture.

Jimena Navarrete, Miss Mexico 2010, has won the pageant of Miss Universe 2010 on monday 23rd. She has become 59th Miss Universe.

Her one year long reign will include travelling  throughout the country making special appearances on behalf of the Miss Universe Organization, its sponsors and affiliated charities.

6.9-magnitude earthquake trembles homes in the mountainous region of China near Tibet

BEIJING - A series of strong earthquakes struck a far western Tibetan area of China on Wednesday, killing at least 400 people and injuring thousands as houses made of mud and wood collapsed, trapping many more, officials said.

State television channel, CCTV, quoted an emergency official, Pubucairen, as saying that the number of injured was believed to be more than 10,000.

The main temblor of magnitude-6.9 struck in southern Qinghai province, near Tibet, on Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The USGS recorded six temblors in less than three hours, all but one registered 5.0 or higher.

Tehmina Bokhari a college professor, a social worker, consultant to governments and organizations, public speaker and writer, has been crowned Mrs. Pakistan in Toronto, Canada. She is the only the 4th woman in the history to be crowned Mrs. Pakistan.

TIJUANA, Mexico – A powerful earthquake swayed buildings from Los Angeles to Tijuana, killing two people in Mexico, blacking out cities, forcing the evacuation of hospitals and nursing homes, and prompting an Arizona border town to shut down its downtown area.

The 7.2-magnitude quake centered just south of the U.S. border near Mexicali was one of the strongest earthquakes to hit region in decades.

Sunday afternoon’s earthquake was felt the hardest in Mexicali, a bustling commerce center along Mexico’s border with California, where authorities said the quake was followed by at least 20 smaller aftershocks, including three of magnitudes 5.1, 4.5 and 4.3. The initial quake had a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles).
